Need airline tickets from Sac to Spokane
for June 24-27th.
I've checked Expedia and Orbitz but each ticket cost about $200. Is there a better way to find better deals? I will not have any luggage so I was trying to find if it was cheaper to have a Spokane layover and just get off there, but don't know how to check that either. Can someone give me some advice or help please? Thanks! |

I really doubt there would be a cheaper fare with a stop in Spokane, since I don't think it is a hub airport, plus this will probably mess up your return. |

If you want to do the hidden-city thing, you need to get tickets from Sacrament to X, via Spokane. As Spokane is not a major hub, this is unlikely to work out for you. Southwest (www.swair.com) have service via PDX but again at this late stage, and given that you need to travel back on a Sunday (always a peak day) there are no cheap fares remaining. You may get a cheaper fare if you are prepared to travel from say SFO or SJC or another nearby airport (or fly to an alternate airport at your destination). The lowest published fare is $123 + tax on DL according to www.travelocity.com |

I don't need to come back on Sunday, I can return on Monday if I leave on Friday, it's just that I tried searching various return dates and it didn't seem to matter what day I returned. |

From Sacramento I get $209. (What is DL?) |

From Sacramento I get $209. (What is DL?) DL : Delta Airlines, although I note when checking back that that fare ends earlier in June so I gave you a bum steer there - sorry. The best fare for your dates was $209.40 on Alaska Airlines, with a choice of direct flights (1 stop, no aircraft change) or connections. This price is $165 plus taxes and fees, and you must recall that late June is approaching peak travel season so you won't get it as cheap as earlier in the year. This is from SMF. As a comparison, the same trip later this month (May 20-23) is only $154.40 on Delta, via SLC. Even Southwest, who are actually more expensive on this occasion, have a starting fare of $89 plus tax each way. Sacramento to Spokane is almost 1000 miles by road... I don't think $200 is unreasonable. Have you had much cheaper fares in the past? |

Need airline tickets from Sac to Spokane
It's been a while since I've flown to Spokane, I don't remember what
the price was. I'm thinking of driving at this point, because my wife will also come which will bring the total for airfare to about $400. Driving for 12 hours will not be fun, perhaps rail? I haven't taken a train since I was 8 years old. I wonder what that would be like. |

I certainly wouldn't do it to save money. It would be quite a drive for a 3 day stay. AMTRAK shows a trip from 11:59PM to 12:13AM a day later, connecting through Portland. So, thats a 24 hour and 14 minute trip one way, and the return shows a 2:45 AM departure, arriving 6:15 AM the next day. Fare is about $418 for 2 (regular), $376 for AAA, $355 for senior citizens. If you have a myalaskaair (web) account, you can fly June 24-27 for $155 for each person. |
