CNN: Talkative Toddler, Mother Kicked Off Plane

“I was crying, I was upset and I was thinking, ‘What am I going to do? I don’t have anything with me, I don’t have anymore diapers for the baby, no juice, no milk,” said Penland. She's traveling with a 19 month old and not planning on providing for his needs? Also, shouldn't the reporter have used "any more", instead of "anymore"? The young mother said she later learned the flight attendant told the pilot that she had threatened her. Penland said that never happened. Would she admit it if she had? Express Jet Airlines released a statement that said, "We received Ms. Penland’s letter expressing her concerns and intend to investigate its contents." A fellow passenger told Channel 2's Rachel Kim none of the other passengers had problems with Garren and that Penland never threatened the flight attendant. How does this passenger know this? Not seeing something happen doesn't mean it didn't happen. This isn't the same as seeing something happen. Seeing something happen makes it more likely that it happened. Not seeing it doesn't mean it didn't happen. I didn't see the All Star Game in SF, but I am pretty sure it happened. |

Belted into a seat on a packed plane, when is there an opportunity to threaten a flight attendant without someone else overhearing? If the quoted passenger says he was there and there was no threat, why do you want so badly to believe the flight attendant over the equally-credible passenger and at least one corroborating witness? -- Randy Hudson |

Not hearing or seeing something, is not really proof. The threat could have occured without the witness knowing about it. If it was this cut and dry, why would the pilot not believe ALL of the passengers, and still kick her off? |

Perhaps the mother and the stewardess both spoke a language that none of the witnesses knew. Many things are possible, but the "threat" seems unlikely to me. If it was this cut and dry, why would the pilot not believe ALL of the passengers, and still kick her off? The pilot has better things to do than act as judge in a passenger-crew dispute. The pilot probably didn't listen to any passengers, nor should he; he has to trust his crew. -- Randy Hudson |

This was a flight from Atlanta. Surely they at least have Coca Cola and other Coke products (Miniute Maid OJ) in the terminal. |

Children's milk is allowed... -- William Black I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Barbeques on fire by the chalets past the castle headland I watched the gift shops glitter in the darkness off the Newborough gate All these moments will be lost in time, like icecream on the beach Time for tea. |

William Black wrote: Children's milk is allowed... Up to what age? Anyway, what's printed on a website isn't what's enforced by the security personnel. In my experience, they try to enforce a simple "no liquids" policy, and it takes a great deal of self-confidence to stand up to them and insist on the rules as written. It doesn't sound like this woman was a frequent flyer who would have been familiar with those rules. -- Randy Hudson |

The only part of this story that I find hard to believe, is that after
a delay of 11 hours the child was still comparatively well-behaved And what is wrong with Americans that they tolerate this level of service? An 11-hour delay is totally unacceptable. If an airline in France tried to behave like that, there would be a passenger riot. But for some reasons Americans are incapable of questioning authority. If all peoples get the government they deserve, the USA will soon be ruled by North Korea. |

other reasonable reasons for kicking damnee baby off the plane: 10. great film starring vin diesel or bruce willis or chuck norris while annoying baby keeps repeating "tell-tubb" 9. baby-carrier and seat belt are mutually exclusive 8. to prevent melt-down by stewardess 7. baby ****sed the way they're throwing our luggage down-there 6. imitation by the captain of a reassuring actor is grade b ham 5. baby needs more radiation from detector-wand 4. what would messiah do if placed in a sardine tin? 3. baby oughta stay 'n see beautifiul houston waterfront 2. it's a longggg trip from texas to oklahoma with an obnoxious baby 1. to divert atttention from that near (10 yards) disaster at orlando |

First you criticized the woman's ability to look after her son and now you suggest that she give Coca Cola to a 19-month-old infant? Perhaps she has a better understanding of nutrition than you and would have preferred to provide something healthy. Richard |
