Looks like BWI flying Delta and USAir are the only ones with a 1 stop
service. Delta and American are cheapest (SW & AirTran doesn't fly there
apparently) but American doesn't offer 1 stop service. Delta is cheapest
with fare at $446 RT + taxes & fees on a lot of their flights. IAD & DCA
are much more expensive. Changing dates of departure and arrival don't seem
to help on fare either.

There's no non-stop service between BGR and any Baltimore/Washington area
airport. There is non-stop service from Philadelphia, via USAir.

Today's Bangor Daily News had an article about the dearth of flights to and
from Bangor, after the American Airlines affiliate announced it was
abandoning its BOS-BGR service. Portland, Maine, is three hours away, but
is served by AirTran and JetBlue, and has better service and lower fares.

Closer to Bangor is BHB, between Ellsworth and Bar Harbor, served by a USAir
affiliate (Colgan Air) from Boston only (so you'd change in Boston when coming
from or going to BWI, IAD, or WAS). That's about 45 minutes east of Bangor,
and might make sense if your actual destination was in Ellsworth or east of
there (including Acadia National Park).
