Is Kaliningrad worth a visit these days? Does it still have evidence
of its glorious past, or some traces of history (especially stories
related to Kant, one of my favorite philosopher)?

Also, how do you get there by road? Is it easy to drive from Poland?

Very little is left. Most was demolished not by war, but afterwards when
russians were trying to create "real slavic past" for that land. For
example Koenigsberg castle was demolished to build a spooky "house of
soviets" which was never completed. But since Kant was an atheist his
tombstone monument besides cathedral was preserved by the comunists.

There are many hours long queues, unless you would try to bribe
officials (When you are leaving Russia its rather easy and almost
recommended). There are no queues driving from Nida in Lithuania, but
then you need to pay for a ferry in Klaipeda and Curonian split National
Park fees both in Lithuania in Russia. Curonian split is on a list of
UNESCO world heritage and is well worth visit itself.

Tomas,
Vilnius, Lithuania
