Hi all,

I am due to go to Boston at the end of this month, I was wondering would it
be more beneficial for me to exchange my GBP for USD before I leave or
should I wait until I get to Boston?

TIA

Regards

Blakey

If I could make those sort of predictions I'd be a currency trader

Seriously the best exchange rate is probably obtainable by
using your ATM card over there. Dont bother with travellers cheques
and do take enough cash with you to pay for taxis , tips etc
when you first arrive. You wont find it as easy to change
sterling to dollars in Boston as it is to change dollars to
sterling in the UK.

I find most of my large expenses like hotels and travel end up
on the old credit card anyway.

You got it. ATM at the destination is the way to go. You get a more honest
exchange rate, while being paid off with the local currency. The money
exchanges at the airports will drain you dry. If you have the time,
stopping off at a local Bank for exchange is usually the best way to go.

Be careful though. When I travel, my wife gets on line, & checks my Credit
Card activity almost every day. I've had my numbers hijacked many times.
Luckly she cancells them before any harm is done. I get a new one Fed Ex'd
to me on the next day.

As others have said, using an ATM card may be best (and
use credit cards for merchants); however, I always get some
foreign currency before I leave, either from a bank or, more
recently, from an online foreign currency service. [Rog']
