French Health Care for the US? Merci, non.

I had an English-speaking doctor and an English speaking nurse. They did an EKG, cardiac enzymes, CBC, blahblahblah, 3.5 hours worth. In the end the doctor says "Go easier on yourself and always sit down before you take nitro. See the nice lady at the cashier's desk." A chill runs down my spine. The cashier of course accepts VISA. The bill is 80 euros, 105 dollars? I never bothered to ask my insurance company for reimbursement; they would have given me more than 105 dollars worth of grief over it. In Paris I had an episode and spent the day being tested and poke and prodded and xray'd and so forth. We charged us nothing. The only cashier we even saw as at the newspaper/flower stand. |
