Dawn Princess or Celebrity Galaxy?
In article , Tom & Linda
wrote: Excuse me... but I don't remember seeing you on the ship with me. Or being with me the night that after a few beers we wanted something to nibble, and all there was in Grand Princess' buffet was vinyl desserts. That was probably about midnight or 1:00 am. I stand by the reality of what was the Vinyl desserts like Napoleon and mini fruit tart cups. Gee. I have been on Grand Princess three times, I have a pretty good idea what is available at midnight or 1:00 am. I was not on the same sailing but I was on Grand Princess the same year, in May 2002. Also I was just on Island Princess and Princess still offers Anytime dining, including a Bistro between 11:00 pm and 4:00 am just like they did last year on Grand Princess. -- Charles |

Dawn Princess or Celebrity Galaxy?
We didn't show up a lot of nights for vinyl.
Maybe once on GrandP. Not much point to going back if you don't like it. Several times on DawnP and OceanP because that's where they had the guitar player performing late at night. There we went for the music and brewskies, not the pastries. --Tom Howard Garland wrote: Tom & Linda wrote: Maybe you stayed up dancing so late that you saw the breakfast buffet. Could be, Tom. I'm always starved after 4 or 5 hours of moving. I don't remember seeing you either with us the night in the Horizon court on Grand Princess (summer 2002) when we wanted something more than vinyl desserts.... and that's all we found. --Tom Was it only one night that you had this experience? Does that mean that you agree that the Horizon Court buffet (operative
word buffet - the term I used) only has vinyl tasting desserts at night? And does not have other food type of items available at the buffet stations? No mini sandwiches. Or anything similar to that? --Tom Charles wrote: In article , Tom & Linda wrote: Maybe it was after your bed time and you were dreaming that it was a full buffet. The Horizon Court Bistro is a waiter-menu service. Somehow you must have missed it. -- Charles |

I never called it a buffet. I always called it a Bistro. You are the one insisting that there are only desserts offered in the Horizon Court and worrying Bill C. to think there is no food available when you can gorge yourself on steak etc. As for desserts, I never had any vinyl desserts on Princess. They always tasted good. Celebrity does offer better and more fancy desserts at their buffets. It is just about the only thing not lousy there. By the way if I were picking between Dawn Princess and Galaxy I would pick Galaxy because I think it is a cool ship, if the price and itinerary were equal. Food is equal, the difference in dining hours is not very important to me, and unlike Bill C. I don't desire a midnight repast. If it had been Bill C. asking the question though he would be advised to stay away from Celebrity and stick with Princess and Carnival. -- Charles |

You are the one insisting that there are only desserts offered in the Horizon Court and worrying Bill C. to think there is no food available when you can gorge yourself on steak etc. This is exactly what I wrote (copied and pasted): ************************************************** ************* Galaxy has traditional dining (which I prefer), while Princess does personal choice. There are times of the day when Galaxy's buffet is closed, but Dawn's is open, but some of those times - like late evening, all you get is vinyl tasting desserts. ************************************************** ************* I called it a buffet. I didn't accuse you of calling it a buffet. I didn't use the term Horizon Court in my original reply. Just the term buffet. As for desserts, I never had any vinyl desserts on Princess. They always tasted good. Celebrity does offer better and more fancy desserts at their buffets. It is just about the only thing not lousy there. Princess desserts in the dining room after dinner were rather good. Especially the soufflés. Generally better than Celebrity desserts. But the desserts at the buffet late at night were horrendous... hence my term vinyl tasting. Very poor quality. Not worth eating. --Tom By the way if I were picking between Dawn Princess and Galaxy I would pick Galaxy because I think it is a cool ship, if the price and itinerary were equal. Dawn P or Celebrity G: Anatomy of a Thread
As of November 20, 5:45 AM:
Diva asked a bad question. Dawn P vs. Galaxy, which do most prefer. It was a bad question because it requires that the respondent know something about the distribution of preferences in this ng. Tom responded with his preferences, based upon having experienced the Ocean P and Galaxy. Diva responded thanks but never mind, cause I'm going on the NCL Dawn. Tom wished her well. Bill, who must be a reasonably cool dude, cause he stays up late and likes to eat, voiced his disappointment about vinyl pastries (mentioned in Tom's post) being the only thing to eat on Princess. Because Bill has never been on Princess, he did not pick up on the fact that Tom was only referring to buffet food. Charles, who is a knowledgeable dude and values fact over opinion, assured Bill that he could eat more than just vinyl pastries late at night on Princess. He also (as he is prone to do) threw in a little zinger about Tom posting misinformation. Howard, who is a nasty dude, threw a dart of his own toward to Tom. Tom responded with a fast but ineffective comeback. Howard, who is nasty, but doesn't really want to hurt anyone's feelings, responded with such subtle nastiness that only he, Eileen, and perhaps Diana Ball could pick this up. Tom, in his usual good humor, forgave Howard, and added small talk. Meanwhile, Bill is happy cause Charles has reassured him that he can eat late on Princess. Karen reveals that she is a night owl on ships. Howard is intrigued by this because he has also just learned that Karen has a tattoo; and obviously, these to pieces of data don't fit his image of her from RTC. Tom, now over his anger at Howard, picks a fight with Charles. Charles, who never backs down from a fight, list his credentials (multiple Princess Cruises). Tom throws a zinger, thinking that maybe Charles is one of those "early to bed nerds." Wrong! Charles, keeps his cool (as always) and turns the debate into one of factual issues. Tom wants a concession to re-establish his manhood. Charles holds his ground. Tom continues. Lee disses all of rtc by telling Bill not to believe anything he reads on rtc. Eileen reassures Bill, once again, that he won't starve late night on Princess. So whadda think folks, is there a market for thread summaries on rtc? Howie - just chillen |
