Default accommodation in Puglia in summer

I'm getting interested in in going to Puglia (specifically Salentino)
next summer, mainly for the tarentella/pizzica events - it seems to
be a kind of rolling festival that goes round most towns in the region.
Maybe not the huge "Notte di Taranta" concert at the end, but I'd
certainly like to get to the one in Galatina on 18/19 June.

How easy is it find accommodation in the region? And can you get
around easily by public transport? The only bits of Italy I know
are in the far north-east so I don't really know how things work
down there.

Do you mean July ? or June 2016 ?

No idea given the short notice and the heatwave.

If you want to compare Habsburgic Trieste with Bourbon-Norman Puglia,
surely there will be differences. I have never been southern of Lecce
and not with public transport. I know there is a network of local
railways https://www.fseonline.it/

I suggest you post a request on forum http://forum.milanotrasporti.org/
(you have to register) either in thread "Come spostarsi da... a... &
Richieste varie" or "Trasporti urbani in Italia" (resp. "how to go from
.... to ... - misc questions" and "urban transport in Italy"). Although
the forum is mainly for north-west, there are people who know Puglia
and the whereabouts of public transport agencies (they organize an
annual contest in form of "virtual tour of Italy with p.t.")

Maybe ask on TripAdvisor?

Yeah you have to be wary of some fake reviews but it has reach that
r.t.e never had even back in the heyday.

Got some good advice for Sardinia from an expat, I believe.

Sardinia is somewhat off the beaten path, compared to other destinations
in Italy.
