Nobody really envies the U.S. health care system. But many people envy a
lot of other things about the U.S., and so complaining about the health
care systems is an example of sour grapes.

So when you complain about things Parisian, or "European" that's also an
example of sour grapes?

Most of us don't much give a **** how much they spend or how they
spend on health care.

Why are they obsessed that we should ape there failed health systems
here?

On the other hand, it is very common for us Americans to believe that the
world would be a much better place if all those foreigners were just like us
and really we know that inside each one there's a little American just
kicking to get out and mow his lawn on Saturday, roast hamburgers on the
grill and drink Budweiser, if only his repressive culture would allow it.

What bugs me is how those "foreigners" go to the trouble of speaking
another language when we know they think in English and do it just to
annoy us.

Really? In what way do they attempt to "be American" ? What defines
"being American" in your mind? Drinking Coke in huge cups full of ice?
Lynching blacks? Sending money to Jim Bakker?

"Your choice may be whether
to take your own employer's health plan or get something else."

Bpm

From a socialist/ communist in the UK (and I repeat myself):

Or to vote for universal health care

John Rennie

And part of another rant from one of Rennie's regular needed brain
donors in between his electric shock treatments in a nut house all the
way from Brisbane Australia:

OW, people make their own decisions, unlike in the
US, where there is no choice other than which HMO you choose to get
screwed by. Must make ya proud to be a Merkin,...

Fred D Bloggs

No-one is obsessed with this matter.....except you. Please stop
posting crap like this in British n.g.'s. Most of us couldn't really
give a toss about what Americans think of our Health Service.

Dr. Barry Worthington

P.S. Your financial system is in danger of going down the pan. I would
worry about that....

Drop in on the medical groups some time. The ones
complaining are NOT the non-USAians.

ANY medical groups.

I recently had outpatient
surgery and the gross hospital bill (not including the surgeon or
anesthesiologist) was US$22K. Of this I had to pay about US$700, which I
still thought was high, but imagine what a European would think. My wife
visited the ER in Italy and the bill was about US$36. The same visit in
the
US would be a thousand.

I am starting understand why the planes to India are full of American heart
patients.

My experience in the past twelve months or so is that these days if you chat
to a European passenger going to India there's about a 30-50% chance that
they're from the USA and they're going for surgery followed by a couple of
quiet weeks on a remote Goan beach for about a quarter of the cost of the
just the surgery in a US hospital.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe.
Barbeques on fire by the chalets past the castle headland
I watched the gift shops glitter in the darkness off the Newborough gate
All these moments will be lost in time, like icecream on the beach
Time for tea.
