"The principal mosque in Rome has a surface area of 30,000 square
meters and can hold thousands of believers. The Christian church of
Mecca has a surface area of zero square meters and can hold zero
believers. In fact, there is no Christian church in Mecca. In other
words, Rome is an open city and Mecca is a closed city....."

Tit-for-tatism. *During WWII, the US gradually moved from bombing only
industrial or military targets in Germany to bombing residential areas.

The bombing in Japan had no moral restraints. *If the Japanese
had none we would not have them.

One's moral compass does not depend on other's compasses.
The moral man marches to his own drummer.

The orignal poster, the phony O'Donovan (not his real name),
has no compass as all.

Although I agree opposition to the mosque unless a church is built in
Mecca is an example of "two wrongs don't make a right," the article
had the makings of a good suggestion:

"They should finance and build a multi-confessional center. In their
building, they should create a church, a synagogue, Hindu and Buddhist
temples, space for unbelievers, and a mosque, equal in size and
importance, in order to honor the victims of 9/11."

I don't agree they should build a worship space for every religion,
but a prominent area that pays homage to the victims of 9/11 (similar
to what is done at St. Paul's church, one block from Ground Zero), and
promotes tolerance and pluralism, through (in part) a secular
government would be a great gesture. *I wonder if either side in this
debate would find that sufficient?- Hide quoted text -

It isn't anything about the victims of 911. It never was and it
shouldn't be. * It is a Muslim community wanting a community center.
There are dozens of churches in that area for a person to go to...take
your pick. Mosques are not 'exclusive' and that is contrary to the
very nature of their religion...there is no class distinction, race,
or nationality when one enters a mosque. *That is why you will see the
King of Jordan in prayer with other men, that is why when you see the
Pilgrimage to Mecca , it is Muslims from all over the world, rich and
poor, famous and ordinary.- Hide quoted text -

Nobody cares to heed your blather. *And few care how Muslims pray.
What is of real concern is the prejudice Muslims heap on nonMuslims,
for which you post nothing. *How many nonMuslims can go to Mecca , you
failed to ask? *Why, NONE, that's how many. *So go **** yourself,
moron.- Hide quoted text -
