It's not in Nevada, but Bodie, CA is one of the best preserved ghost
towns and it's 130 miles from Reno. http://www.bodie.com/

Some might consider Virginia City to be a ghost town. Regardless of
whether it really is, it's a fun, and fascinating, place to visit.
The turnoff is on the way to Bodie.

It's not in Nevada, but Bodie . . . 130 miles from Reno.

An excellent suggestion but I made a great many attempts, over many
years, to visit it before actually succeeding. The road was closed
for a variety of reasons ranging from snow to unexplained closures.

Driving from Reno, you'll drive south through Carson City through some
truly beautiful territory. Keep on going south down 395 to Mono Lake
(BEAUTIFUL!), Lee Vining and further south to Mammoth Lakes, June
Lake, Convict Lake. God's country ;-)
