Default Courier companies in NY?

Hi - I have been looking to fly as a courier over winter break to
Europe, but haven't had any luck finding contact info of courier
companies in NYC (flying out of JFK). I've gotten ahold of several
books, but they are from the 90's and the telephone #s are out-of-date,
companies have gone out of business, etc. I also searched usenet on
google, but had the same problem with out-of-date info. Yellow pages
searches online have 100s of results, and I can't get ahold of a real
NYC phonebook. I was hoping people here knew of some companies and
their phone numbers. I'd be looking to fly to Russia.
Please respond to the group.
Thanks, Dave

Hi - I tried yahoo yellow pages, which is similar - the only problem is
it includes normal courier services like FEDEX in the results, as well
as int'l couriers that don't sell discounted tickets (I tried calling a
few) - not knowing the individual businesses, it's kind of hard to tell
which is which. Thanks for the suggestion though.
Dave

I suspect that you'll find that little remains of the old "courier"
business, once an attractive method to finance an air trip overseas.

Be careful of the conmen who will attempt to take your money for giving you
access to their sure-fire ever-available list of folks looking for couriers,
and remember that the three major US air freight companies now have service
to almost every street address in Europe and Asia, dependable guaranteed
delivery, and a hell of a lot less insurance cost for any shipper than some
guy named "krem1" might enjoy.
