Aer Lingus ex Shannon- preclearance for US flights?
I'm trying to find out if they do this. It would be nice as we have a
three hour layover there on a MAN-SNN-BOS flight this Saturday. There's no information on the airline website, though they mention it on certain flights out of Dublin. I did post something similar and didn't get a clear answer then... maybe someone has flown SNN-BOS on Aer Lingus recently? Strange there doesn't seem to be a single mention of it on Aer Lingus or the airport's website... which makes we guess they don't offer it. They didn't initially when the customs clearance was also added, and there were irate reports from passengers wondering why the US airlines were offering it. (I think there's a cost per passenger.) The links above aren't helpful, as they don't make it clear which airlines offer it... and Aer LIngus only mention it from Dublin on their website. I suppose I'll just wait and see... -- (*) of the royal duchy of city south and deansgate www.davidhorne.net (email address on website) "[Do you think the world learned anything from the first world war?] No. They never learn." -Harry Patch (1898-2009) |

I pointed you at this press release that says Aer Lingus have been using it for over a year: http://www.aerlingus.com/aboutus/aer...e,2012,en.html http://www.travelbanter.com/showthread.php?t=172490 R's, John |

Good to know - I've been considering going through Ireland rather than London, for my next cross-pond trip. Most times I've done it recently has been via Amsterdam. Manchester-Shannon-Boston is going more in the right direction! I do recommend this way, it's a quiet airport, and there's tons of space and nice comfy soft seats in the departure gate area. Noisy propeller plane on the way here though... -- (*) of the royal duchy of city south and deansgate www.davidhorne.net (email address on website) "[Do you think the world learned anything from the first world war?] No. They never learn." -Harry Patch (1898-2009) |

Noisy propeller plane on the way here though... The price difference was what appealed to me - it's nice to know that it's a pleasant airport. A short flight in a prop plane doesn't really bother me - years ago, I used to travel transatlantic on them. Took _ages_, from Prestwick to Iceland and Canada, before landing in NY. |
