Default defunct airline archives

Pan Am's archives are now with a univesity in Florida. Does anyone
know of the location of other defunct airline archives? What usually
happens to all the historical files of a bankrupt airline; do the
lawyers just shred them when the case is closed?

I think Pan Am is a special case. Ansett (Australia), Braniff and Eastern
(United States), to name just threecarriers, weren't as internationally
known - Pan Am was, after all, for many years the "de-facto" flag carrier of
the United States (which led to a degree of arrogance which probably had
something to do with their demise, IMHO). Other major international
bankruptcies such as Swissair and Sabena are too recent, and
bankruptcy/merger situations such as Canadian International, TWA, are too
recent. But many of these carriers do have web sites maintained by
volunteers.
