I read the source that you provided and have two more questions: Is not having preclearance in Halifax a bad thing? Is it more of a hassle? Also one of the posts says " Since most international pax must now be fingerprinted and have their photo taken (US-VISIT), such delays are more likely." Do they fingerprint Canadians? |

One more question, Is it sufficient to have an ID and birth certificate? If you were born in Canada or the US, all you need is proof of citizenship and a photo ID. A birth certificate is acceptable for proof of citizenship, but make sure it is an original, with the government seal, and not a photocopy. A passport, even an expired one, provides both requirements. Is not having preclearance in Halifax a bad thing? Is it more of a hassle? Preclearance means that you can hit the ground running at your destination, and not have to line up with hoards of people arriving from overseas flights to clear customs and immigration. In general, it's a good thing. Also one of the posts says " Since most international pax must now be fingerprinted and have their photo taken (US-VISIT), such delays are more likely." Do they fingerprint Canadians? Natural-born Canadian citizens are not fingerprinted, yet. |
