Web access on Maasdam
We're booked this summer on a European cruise on the Maasdam. Do any of
you have experience with their web access. Do I need to bring my wifi equipped laptop? Are there machines available with web access? How do they calculate charges? Thanks for your help. E.K. |

They do have a number of terminals in the internet cafe. I brought my laptop, and could log on in the hot spots (basically the atrium or in the vicinity of the internet cafe). There was no access in the stateroom. I felt that my laptop was faster than the terminals but YMMV. You can sign up and use the same account for either your laptop or the terminal - so if you see a free terminal, you can just log on without running all the way back to the cabin to get the laptop. As for charges - there is a small fee (less than $4) for the first sign-up. The biggest package is 250 minutes for $100. If you sign up on the first day, you get free minutes on your account. If you are a Mariner you also get free minutes. And if you get a second package, it also includes some free minutes. |

Is the Mariner freebie significant, or just a few minutes? We're going to be on that ship for 35 days and I'm counting on my e-mail to keep us in touch with family. E.K. |

I'm not sure it was the same for every cruise - we were on back to back cruises including a repositioning cruise (a total of about 25 days), and IIRC it was 20 or 30 minutes. |
