Taormina G7 lockdown, May 26-27
Just in case anyone else is as iggerant as us, don't book into Taormina, Sicily at the end of May.
This relatively small but very popular resort town is going to be swamped by the G7 meeting. Many facilities for far more than the actual 2 days involved are being reserved for governments' massed staff, security, media, bla bla bla. The town itself is actually going to be locked down for some days, with tourists not even allowed to arrive, enter or leave!! We have, with some difficulty and at some expense, just managed to extricate ourselves from some air/hotel bookings made in all innocence. Well, did you know? |
