Any experience to share? - stickyrice No experience, but I checked this out when I was looking at alternatives to cross the Pacific. If you're going from Australia you have a few options all via Papeete. You can go Air Tahiti Nui Sydney-Papeete, then LAN to Easter Island; or you can go Air New Zealand to Papeete via Auckland, then on to Easter Island with LAN again. You can also add Raratonga on the Air NZ route if you want shorter flights and another island to see. Basically, wherever you start, I didn't find any en-route choices apart from Santiago or Papeete. So force yourself to put up with a couple of nights in Tahiti en-route:-) Cheers, Alan, Australia http://loraltravel.blogspot.com/ latest: Alhambra |

: snip Thanks, Alan. It seems there are little options regarding the route. Actually I will be happy to stay a couple of nights in Tahiti. Now question is: where to get those cheap tickets? Any idea?br br - stickyricebr br /body Attachment decoded: untitled-1.htm /html I don't know what you are using to access this newsgroup, but could I suggest somthing that doesn't clog up the post with extraneous HTML. It was really hard to find your message amongst all the tags! OK now to your question! If you are looking for cheap airfares, I can recommend bestflights.com.au. In my experience they are very good at winkling out all those obscure cheap flights. Having said that, Easter Island is notorious for being expensive because it is a tiny place thousands of km from anywhere served by only one airline. Happy hunting! R. |

It was really hard to find your message amongst all the tags! It's Thunderbird here! Any problem from others? For people with properly configured newsreaders, it's unreadable, i.e. they either see nothing or the HTML source. I saw nothing (i.e. an empty response) and only looked at the (hard to read) HTML-source because your response was a response to Reece's, who talked about the HTML problem. Your original posting was OK. That was in "text/plain". Your responses were in "text/html" (without a (earlier) text/plain part). So check in Thunderbird where you can set plain text or no-HTML or something like that. [deleted] |

Then I assume that you've set your newsreader to *kill* (i.e. not show at all) HTML-postings. Mine is set to display only text/plain postings. HTML postings are only 'announced' but not rendered, i.e. not displayed, i.e. like: [Start quote (at top of the window):] Fri, 20 Oct 2006 00:01:54 rec.travel.australia+nz Thread 5 of 8 Lines 44 Cheapest way to go Easter Island from S RespNo 2 of 7 stickyrice Newsgroups: rec.travel.australia+nz [-- text/html, encoding 7bit, charset: ISO-8859-1, 44 lines --] [End quote.] I.e. the "[-- ... --]" part only announced that there was a HTML part (and that that was all there was, i.e. no (earlier) text/plain part). |
