Default Mad men hit Oslo

A big bomb went off a few hours ago in downtown Oslo. A small number of
people has died and several others severely wounded. Debris all over the
place and the authority has advised people to stay away from the site.
Government buildings were obviously the target.

Simultaneously a phoney policeman starts shooting at people in a youth camp.

Oh, well. Millions starve in Africa these days, thousands have already
died - quietly. The largest refugee camp houses 370.000 people and would
easily make up the second largest city of Norway.

Few give a **** but once a bomb explodes in the so-called civilized
world, the news are full with live coverage.

Is your preference that the Africans should die spectacularly, or that
the Norwegians should starve to death?

I suspect his point is that the rest of the world SHOULD care (and too
little of it does)!

I think you'll find that the "rest of the world" cares about the various
situations in various parts of Africa quite a bit. It's just that
they've been going on for decades, despite major efforts of every relief
and charitable agency you can name.

Simply because such an endless tragedy isn't on the front page every day
doesn't mean people don't care or that nothing's being done.

Perhaps it's the OP's problem that he needs to be reminded of it by
someone else, because it slips his mind otherwise.

I apologize. I am a sinner. It is true that starving Africans were not
in my mind when I wrote the post.

Blimey! The terrorist is not supposedly an al Qaeda agent nor a moslem
zealot of any other sort, but a Norwegian sod. Prior to this piece of
information former Finnish ambassador to Norway told to the media that
most moslems in Norway are decent and hard working people. Just a few of
them have gone wild.
