Cancelled Carnival cruises
In article , George Leppla

Even at the low wages the cruise lines pay I think the labor is the major cost. So less staffing and training, a buffet would cost less. With computer software now a days they can make pretty good predictions on how much food to prepare. Plus they could use the crew cabin space for more revenue cabins or revenue enhancing public space. -- Charles |

Cancelled Carnival cruises
I'm actually very disappointed as I planned my vacation schedule this
year around the Quebec cruise. Now I have to think about possibly doing Holland America Boston to Montreal one way and using Amtrak for the return to NJ. In article , "Tom K" wrote: "Jeff Gersten" wrote in message ... (Tom K) wrote" As for Quebec, I'm not sure but I think they cancelled all 3 cruise, not just te one we were looking at. But, if they have told their reps that the itinerary is still a go for 2010, they must think it has potential. The Quebec sailing was unusual. While Quebec itself is great, there were a TON of sea days, and the itinerary doesn't bother to go to the Saguenay River Fjord, which for me is a major attraction up there. I think the itinerary could scare people off. And the itinerary could fit more with Cunard, HAL or Princess than Carnival. Like Europe. --Tom |

"Jeff Gersten" wrote And, it would seem to me, that even if you did not lose any customers who were cancelled, you would be doing a lot more work for no more money. I am assuming that Carnival is not reimbursing you for your time and effort of booking cruises that they later cancel. Well, you are right but that is just the way it is. We are in the minority,we pine for the good old days of cruising on a
smaller ship, but without the high cost of the ships like seaborne or oceania, really loved the old pacific princess, and the now gone home lines, cruise lover(~~~~~) .. |

I was thinking IN A WAREHOUSE what is wrong with these Cruise lines! We had something similar situation when we sailed on the Grand Princess Oct. 31, 1999. The ship was coming from Europe and there had been some very bad storms there and during the crossing. Princess knew the ship would be delayed, but did not notify most of the TAs. They put us in a conference center that wasn't big enough for all the passengers. Someone actually called 911 reporting a fire hazzard.lol Finally we found out(not from Princess) that the ship was boarding passengers, so a group of us got cabs to the pier and at 9PM got on the ship. It was not a fun day, but we did enjoy the cruise and the ship. Hope your clients enjoy their cruise!! sue |

Norwegian were stretching the ship and it was not finished in time for the cruise. The cruise was canceled and I read about it here; it took my TA several weeks to notify me. Becca |
