snipped 1000 word rant Come on, -hh, don't you think "play fair" and "say you're sorry when you hurt somebody" are good places to start? And then let's talk about that Cruise West itinerary including Cocos Island--it sounds interesting. Diana There is nothing as disingenuous as blithering all over the NG then, in order to save your ass, switch on "sweet" and attempt to change your own subject. -- Think first! Now that many RC fans feel slighted at not having made the ranks and most everyone else is disgusted at the covert trade of cruising for happy juicing, the trustworthiness of such forums is under fire. Due to CruiseCritic's ownership by TripAdvisor, which is in turn under the Expedia blanket of travel sites, a viral marketing stunt gone awry could possibly continue to negatively ripple. Does news like this affect your ability to trust good reviews on travel sites, or do you already consider yourself an excellent shill-spotter enough to weed out the solicited from the unsolicited? Can you spot them on RTC? Who says that Goldenberg, Leppla, Ball, Sisker, one or all, aren't shilling for certain companies? Particular cruises, negative comments on specific lines or cruises? If it happens with RC members, why not here? -- Think first! FWIW... if I were a RC member, I'd tell anyone who questioned my ethics or the validity of my posts to go jump in a lake. But then, I am a travel agent and there are people who think that whatever I write is suspect. I am either "biting the hand that feeds me" or "being a shill for the cruise line". I must be doing something right because I've been accused of both. There's this thing, and it's called integrity, and George you have it! Jeff |

Hey, Jeff G and Erm, I would love to meet y'all, too--our day will
come! There are so many RTCers I look forward to meeting in the future...including Dillon, who lives in my home town, and Jean, who is just a hop, skip and a jump away (but never at home, always at sea!). It is only by chance that I've been able to meet a few RTCers--Jeff C, Howie & Eileen and the lovely Z's (who don't post here anymore) all happened to take the same maiden voyage of the Serenade of the Seas (still one of my absolute fav ships!) from Amsterdam to Boston one summer. That was a really neat cruise, made all the more special by having the opportunity to meet cyberfriends in real life! Jeff, aren't you the keeper of the picture from our group lunch? I guess I need to go dig for it. My photo archives are in embarrassingly bad shape. And then there was the (in)famous Liberty two-nighter compliments of Royal Caribbean + a bunch of my dough to fly across the country to meet some more of the RTC gang! The "funnest" thing about meeting people "in real life" is how much they are like their posting personas...and also how different they are from their posting personas. Take Charles, for example. He is so serious when he posts. And yet, when I cruised with him, he was an absolutely wild and crazy maniac on the dance floor 'til all wee hours of the morning, LOL. Diana |

I will have to think about that one. But you're getting warmer! Diana |
