Default Aft Balconies!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi My Husband and I are sailing on Caribbean Princess and the only
balconies left are aft. Are the aft balonies nice? We have always booked
balconies mid ship. Thank You for any help you can give me. Barbara and
Jeff

Can't speak for Princess, but we always book aft cabins on RCCL. Love those
12 ft + deep balconies.

If you are talking about a balcony that faces "aft", grab it while you
can. There are usually very hard to come by, they get sold out very
early on. These balconies are usually much larger and it is heaven
sitting there watching the wake. The only downside is that it can be a
very long walk to alot of things.

What about your balcony with the big obstruction?

The aft balcony with the "BEAM" was on the Crown Princess, I don't
think there are the same issues on the Caribbean Princess. Just in
case the two BB Aft obstruced balconies were B750 and B751 on the Crown.

On the Infinity we also had an aft cabin and the balcony was
fantastic. I would just tell the OP to check with their TA and/or with
Princess to make sure their balcony is not obstructed.

If I haven't booked a guarantee cabin, and I'm choosing my balcony
cabin, I will specifically ask for an aft balcony. I've only had two of
them so far, but they've both been great. Balconies are definitely
bigger (much, much bigger on Enchantment of the Seas, less so on
Carnival Miracle). Only downside was that I did have some soot on my
balcony furniture on the Miracle. So, I just had to be careful about
where I sat, clean off the chair, etc. Really no biggie.

On the Infinity and the Crown Princess we didn't have a problem with
soot or fumes on the balconies. I have heard other people complain
about the soot, but I think it depends on which ship it is.

and also when ... On our NCL Sky rear balcony we had soot only when
they first started to leave ... I thought there were guys above me
flicking cigar ashes when we were getting underway ... but nothing once
moving ... the poor room steward worked overtime making sure there was
no soot left there ...
On the Zuiderdam ... after the Sky experience ... though warned I found
nothing much to speak of ... of course that one was covered nicely ...

I think it depends on the wind as well. On the Caribbean Princess aft,
there was just one night that the wind seemed to blow the soot down
onto our balcony (and through the open door!). And that was only for
an hour or so. I was the only one whom it woke up at 3am, but I'm a
light sleeper when it comes to dangerous smells.

Cheers, Kev
