The bathtub is the only tempting thing in the suite that makes we want
to spend the extra $$. Otherwise, a little more room to move around, a
little more balcony space...hardly seems worth it. If the upgrade fairy
comes through one day, that would be nice. Otherwise, the standard
balcony cabin works just fine for me.

Heck, even the mini-suites have a bathtub. But the full suite was
terrific for four people, because of the split bathroom, separate
shower and tub, and curtain between one bed and the sofa-bed. Each
side also has their own balcony door.

We had a full suite on the Caribbean Princess. It was on the aft
corner, so the balcony was huge and had a view to one side as well as
aft.

Well worth doing at least once. The privilege of no line waiting for
tendering, etc was nice, as was the free laundry etc.

You're not far off the mark Lee. Writing this from the GS of the
Diamond as we speak. Beautiful circular dining area with table for 6
is kind of wasted on 2 people unless you plan on parties in your
stateroom. Shower has NINE shower heads at all different levels, we
still haven't figured out how to work them all. Wide screen TV and
personal computer ( free access) are nice, but we get free access
anyway being platinum. Nice to do once, but I'd save the $$ next time.
Also, it's at the far aft of the ship. Some folks like this, but on
this particular ship/trip, the vibration is so bad you can't have a
full water glass or coffee cup without fear of splashing all over the
place.

Not bitching about it at all, how could one?, but as Lee says, regular
balcony works fine. Save the bucks unless you have a large group and
want a "party suite."

Almost 2 years ago, I was on the Oosterdam with my best friend. We had
THE BEST dining room table, and ended up spending a lot of time with
our tablemates outside of the dining room. On the last formal night,
one of the couples, who had a suite, hosted a cocktail party for the
table, before dinner. So, that was a definite benefit to them, to be
able to take advantage of all their space to do this. However, when
they booked the cruise, little did they know that they'd luck into this
kind of serendipitous situation! We were all happy to use their space,
for sure. And, I guess if you book a cabin as part of a larger group,
those social occasions will come up - or are preplanned. I'm sure I'd
enjoy the extra space of a suite, and I'll gladly accept it on an
upgrade :-)...
