Urgent: Oct. trip, tahiti excursions on Princess, prebook or wait?

Hi all,

I wondered if there was any real reason or is it just a marketing ploy
for Princess to be selling pre-cruise excursions.

I went on the Ren ship (now princess ship)3 years ago and did not
prebook anything. In fact if you did not book on the ship, there was
a good chance you could just walk off the ship in a given port and
there would be vendors selling the SAME excursion for less, and you
would board next to your fellow passengers!

Anyone sailed recently with Princess in tahiti on these ex-Ren
ships??? Any info. appreciated.

We were on the Regal Princess 2+ years ago and could get the same tour
either via a tour company or standing-by taxis, that cost less and
were more personalized than what ship tours provided. Of course these
DIYs are not guaranteed, and some are not as good. But isn't that the
'extra' that you geet when you leave home? If you a few less sites on
these informal tours, you will often see more people, and in their own
settings.
