Hi Sheree,
If her husband died, she would get the amount that he received from what
earnings he had made and contributed to. If both worked, she would get
the highest amount that was earned...hers or her husband's but not both.
In other words if her husband got $1100. social security and she got
$500. social security or did not work at all, she would get $1100. when
he died. Social security is based on not only the amount of years of
employment but the amount earned while working. The higher the salary,
the more is taken out for social security, thus a larger social security
entitlement. At least that was the way it was explained to us when we
retired.

And I am missing you like crazy. What a wonderful friend you are to come
here from Texas and take care of me in my grief and physical pain. There
aren't many (if any) folks like you. You're the bomb, Jean.
Love
Ermalee in Havre de Grace

You are making me blush, my dear friend...you would do the same for me.

--Jean---never been called Da Bomb before! ;-)

How Social Security benefits are figured is off topic but suffice to
say you have been misinformed. Your benefit is based on your earnings
averaged over your working lifetime.

I was thinking about you the other day. I saw this bike courier on the
street, and he had a long armed monkey doll on his back pack. He looked
pretty dirty though, lol, the monkey doll that is. I thought....where
did he get that I wonder, lol... Always on the lookout!!
