Princess "Movies Under the Stars"

Bill and Dick too:

I was thinking of maybe the Atco or Pennsauken but also trying to think
of maybe the Tacony? Since I visited more than these 3 and the 2 you
mentioned the one on Delsey Drive in Pittman/Glassboro area also comes
to mind as does one or two around Quakertown and the one in Vineland,.


And, Bill, no it isn't me posting to the cruise critic Phila area
cruises page, I am now living in Bensalem (born and raised in Phila -
go Panthers - Mastbaum Voc Tech) . Traveled around with an Army Spouse
for 20+ years but the only Drive-in the two of us went to was the one
in Vineland NJ.

It'll come to me......................BTW will we see you at the lunch
at the restaurant June 11th in Boardentown????

We had on one in Pleasantville. ( 40-50's) The first movie I believe was in
Pennsauken/Camden, NJ. - I know there was one on the White Horse Pike in
Atco. I had been to them all.

Our drive-in of choice was in Maple Shade, NJ, and I honestly do not
remember ever using the car radio as the sound source.

I am looking forward to discussing it with you on the 11th of June.

"thingy" that you hung on the window was a speaker, but....at some
Drive-ins you turned your radio on and tuned in to the very end of the
dial and the sound came thru the radio. And since I am from the Phila
area I do believe it was at one of the Drive-ins near by. Give me time
and I'll remember, better yet, will contact some of the people who went
with me and see what they remember.

I do remember that the management had to have a battery charger to jump
start some of the cars.

There was a drive-in just off of the Jersey side of the Tacony Palmyra
Bridge, and another just east of the Pennsauken Mart, but for us the "great
babysitter" was the one in Maple Shade across the road from Matlack's Dairy
Bar, the area's bestest ice cream parlor.

Sadly, the technology of the 60's paled against today's, and a drive-in was
only effective in the winter when it got dark early.
