Default London Eye and Lord Mayor's Show fireworks

Hi all
Planning a trip to London the weekend of the Lord Mayor's Show. At 5:00pm
there are fireworks launched from a platform the other side of Waterloo
bridge to end the show. I was thinking of booking a flight on the London
Eye to start at 5:00pm also. Is this a good idea? I assume we will have a
good view, but would it be better to view the fireworks from the ground?
Plus if there are any delays we could miss the fireworks all together.

Also we have 3 children aged 5 and under. Our hotel is not very far away
but what would be the best way to get to Battersea Park afterwards to see
the celebrations there? The kids will not be able to walk all the way and
then last out the show in Battersea. Would a taxi be the best way to go
from the Eye to Battersea Park? And which entrance should we head for?

TIA
Suzanne

It may take about 5-10 minutes to get high enough to clear the South
Bank complex for the best view.

Depends on whether your hotel is not very far from Battersea Park or the
London Eye. If the latter, I've vote for taxi as it's simpler. If you
want to use it, Battersea Park and Queenstown Road BR stations are a
short walk away from the park.

At Waterloo take any South West train towards Dorking, Reading,
Guildford, Hampton Court, or Shepperton, change at Clapham Junction and
take any South Central train towards Victoria, alighting at Battersea
Park station.

Try it yourself at

And which entrance should we head for?

The fireworks displays are usually at the west side of the park near the
Albert Gate, which is the far end of the park from the stations and from
where you're travelling. Have a look at this. There's also a map of the
park.

The display may be a few minutes in starting so that would probably be
alright

I think taxi should be a good idea. Our hotel is in Dolphin Square and if
we have watched the Lord Mayor's parade then I reckon the kids will need a
lift to the closest point in Battersea Park. I was just concerned that the
traffic may be chocablock with the Lord Mayor's Show dispersing at that
time, although it does end further up the river. The Lord Mayor's Show site
http://www.lordmayorsshow.org/ advised not bringing cars in.

This is the site where I got all the information about the fireworks but
they didn't say which side to go to. Thanks very much

Which weekend is the Loud Mayor's Show? I will be in London in a
couple of weeks, and would like to see the fireworks if the show is
during my visit.

It is on Sat 8th November. It kicks off at 11:00 and the return procession
is at 1:00. It finishes at 3:00pm and the fireworks are at 5:00pm. The
Battersea Park fireworks, which are supposed to be massive, are at 7:00 and
are about 3 miles away.

It isn't as bad it sounds as Sunday 9th November is Remembrance Sunday.
Members of the Royal Family, politicians and ex-servicemen and women hold a
Two Minutes' Silence at 11 am at the Cenotaph in Whitehall and then march
past the monument. Even if you can't get there early enough to claim your
spot on the kerb, you can still catch a glimpse of Royal Family travelling
to and from Whitehall. And it will be televised on BBC.

Oh really? How can I find out the route of the Royal family?

There may be a problem. Booking a trip on the wheel does not actually
get you very far. It merely gives you a shorter queue to wait in. There
are also problems because the booking system allows you to book a half
hour slot and the wheel doesn't work that way. Pods arrive at
approximately two minute intervals.

This is very true. Just back from our trip from London. At weekends turn
up 40 minutes before you want to go up - even if booked. Not allowed to
bring baby buggies on. After queuing for 30 minutes we were made step out
of the queue to take the baby out and fold the buggy (lucky we could). We
lost about 10 minutes in the queue doing this when told. You aren't told at
the start.
Saw the fireworks from the ground while queuing but you have needed to have
booked the 4:30 flight to see the fireworks in the air at 5:00.
