Default Public transp DC to Philly? And cost?

I'm flying in to Reagan, to stay there say 4 days then go to Plilly for
annother 4 days.
I just hate to pay the $15 or so a day for each of those 4 day periods
to store car in hotel, maybe not even driving it. Looking to use mass
transp to get to philly, then after that second 4 day period get a
rental for annother 6 days of driving around, then returning to DC and
fly out.

Any suggestions? Is there an amtrac or something? Cost for 3 people?
Or just get car for whole time and bite the big one?

Thanks in advance to the Usenet Brotherhood
Bri

Get a car when you leave D.C. and if you can, stay somewhere outside the
city where you don't need to pay parking, or do a oneway rental (try
national for this). Amtrak to Philly is not cheap. A cheaper way may be
MARC (doesn't run weekends) tp Baltimore and Amtrak from there but
time....

Take Amtrak. See http://www.amtrak.com for cost and schedule.

Your idea to do your trip without a car is wonderful. For three people
though, it might be more cost effective to rent a car on your last day
in Washington and drive to Philly and return the car the same day there.

3 people one way , DC to Philly, unreserved (U) seats, early AM departure is
$141 - $47 each.

For three people, it's hard to beat the cost of a rental car. As
others have suggested, rent the car in D.C. the day you're leaving and
return it in Phila the next day. Avis will rent you a car at
Washington Nat'l, return in downtown Phila for $76 plus gas, call it
maybe $90. The train for three people is $141, the bus is about $75
but it's slow.

Or save on parking by returning it the same day, if possible.
