BUT, AUSTRALIA (where he wants to go) Isn't on the list when they ask:

Where do you want to travel. ?

It appears that this site is FOR Australians travelling abroad, not for
Visitors to OZ

No. From the site:

MBF Overseas Visitors' Cover helps pay for your healthcare costs, such
as hospital and some medical charges incurred, while you're in
Australia. It is ideal if you:

* Are planning a visit to Australia of less than 12 months
* Are not a resident of Australia
* Do not have adequate travel insurance with a medical component

Its to provide overseas visitors to Australia with medical cover. Than
is normally included in travel insurance but the original poster can
not get travel insurance for more than 30 days.

Try Worldwide Travel Insurance. We've been using them for years -
excellent for pre-existing medical conditions. Their best annual policy
covers up to 62 days per trip but this can be extended once per year for
an extra fee.

These days there are a number of credit card companies that provide free travel insurance as a bonus to card holders. It is necessary to check the amount of coverage associated with these offers to make sure that it provides you with right coverage for your entire vacation.
