I blame no one...just that this happens....this is not a commentary of
policy....just what happens if you travel to Oz and back....plain and
simple...who cares who does what......not me.....BUT......if your a
woman and you have expensive cosmetics, beware of what does
happen.....4 days ago this is what transpired Bob....this is aimed to
women travelers which I wishes to convey....my husband doesn't know
what quality cosmetics cost....Ant said she bought 99
products.....but it is special to her, that is what counts to
women....like shoes, you will never understand....we loved Australia
while there...

chuckle. I didn't buy 99 of anything. I bought some lipsticks (Cover Girl)
that were being sold off for 99 cents each.

9/11 is the common term used.

Not in countries that interpret 9/11 as meaning the 9th of November.

Only in America. In the rest of the world, 9 11 means the 9th of November.

I am not exactly sure who posted the above, but even after checking
baggage in be prepared for destruction of same.

After checking my baggage at LAX (with the TSA folks), packages of
Tim-Tams twisted like a pair of wrung sox and then thrown in with tools,
books, etc..

4 panniers, satchels and boxes of items all taken apart, some things
torn (instead of just opened with a knot that anyone wearing shoes could
undo) apart and then thrown together....

If going to OZ from your home country try to avoid going through the USA
while they are implementing this policy.....

Are you still forced to get a USA tourist visa if transitting (is there such
a word?)
through LAX? Everyone flying to Vancouver was forced through US immigration
given 6 month tourist visas and then told to checkin again at the airline
counters.
They had all this sooper dooper sekurite but you could just walk out the
terminal
and disappear - which no doubt is how most self respecting terrorists get
into
the USA.

I as a Canadian was herded (mooo???) into the same group as the US
citizens, and those with US visas...

I wonder what the non-self respecting and really serious ones do ;-)
Yes, there was no apparent "coral system" for those in transit to make
sure they did not stray away.. Not a single Border Collie in sight.

You have to enter the US, yes. They don't have any capacity to "hold"
transit passengers. You have to enter, do immigration and customs, and then
re-check your baggage, and line up to go back in through security. It can be
a huge problem.

and make use of their wonderful welfare system.... NOT.
