What is this FAA site used for?
I needed to make multiple flights to and within the East Coast during
the extended weather troubles last week, and thought the following site would be a useful source of current information on the status of multiple airports: http://www.fly.faa.gov/flyfaa/usmap.jsp It wasn't. The entire Northeast remained full of nothing but totally green dots -- in fact, every airport in the entire U.S., with three minor exception, remained totally green for the entire period. So I'm asking again (partly out of curiosity, partly for future reference): 1) What is this site for? What is its purpose, if any? 2) What other site(s) might one go to, to get a _single-site_ overview of the current delay or closure status of major airports, on a nation-wide or at least region-wide basis? The only such site that I discovered myself and found useful was http://flightaware.com/live/ |

It seems to be for flight delays; I reckon a cancelled flight isn't considred to be delayed. As the note says: "The status information provided on this site indicates general airport conditions; it is not flight-specific. Check with your airline to determine if your flight is affected" So I'm asking again (partly out of curiosity, partly for future reference): 1) What is this site for? The only such site that I discovered myself and found useful was http://flightaware.com/live/ That one can be used for specific flight information. -- ************* DAVE HATUNEN ) ************* * Tucson Arizona, out where the cacti grow * * My typos & mispellings are intentional copyright traps * |

Another site is http://www.usatoday.com/travel/fligh...ype=DelayIndex Seems each site has pros and cons. Not aware of which is best overall. |
