The reputation for having a older group is valid ... but it's not that
bad ... if you throw out the top 10 % in age, you probably have an age
distribution like most of the others ... but even if you don't throw
them out ... you can easily beat them to the good seats in the
theater ...

HAL has a median age now in the Caribbean of 45 years Old.
We been having alot of younger people and families going, we have
been getting remarkable feedback even from teenagers. so the old Fart
Reputation is starting to be lost either that or they died or we have
changed into them!

I don't believe they have swing in the disco. I would believe they have
or had it in other venues although I wonder if they still have it at
all. I don't think Brian K has been on a cruise in years. HAL may have
changed a bit since then. Ballroom dancing, I have seen on many cruise
lines. If they do have swing in the disco that seems a rather odd place
for it.

Yes. I don't doubt there were some seniors dancing in the disco until
2:00 am. I don't think were doing swing music.

HAL is fine ... The appeal is to older cruisers ... and have a big
customer loyalty ... so the older group were much younger when they
first sailed HAL ..
The decor is sedate ... The entertainment refined ... but they give a
very good cruise experience ... something unique to them is the
flaming/special desserts outside the dining room after dinner ... and
I rate their specialty restaurant tops ... They have an interesting
service concept where they try to group the same nationalities in the
same service areas ... This helps promote a team concept I was
told ... and service was very good so they may have a point ... The
ship was run very professionally also ...

There's a reason for what you call 'grouping" nationalities. And that
is that Indonesians are Moslems and can't touch booze, which is why
Filipinos (predominately Catholic) can serve it.

HAL used to be the best, so if you don't know any better you may like
it. If you know the old way you will be disappointed for sure.
