Default ORD expansion - some airlines say huh?

Same old story on the ORD expansion. All I know is the cops won't
let you metal detect the bought out properties. Heaven forbid you
might damage some grass on property that is going to be bulldozed.

TRIBUNE INVESTIGATION
Airlines seek to scale back O'Hare's expansion
With new runway set to open Thursday, major carriers call further
building plans 'premature and inappropriate'

By Jon Hilkevitch and Julie Johnsson | Tribune reporters
November 20, 2008

As the first new runway in Chicago in 37 years is set to open
Thursday, major airlines serving O'Hare International Airport have
unanimously called for halting the next phase of the ambitious
expansion project, according to documents obtained exclusively by the
Tribune.

American Airlines and United Airlines, the two largest carriers at the
airport, said the O'Hare plan is flawed, according to the statements
sent to city and federal authorities that oppose more spending on the
project.

They called Chicago's effort to move ahead with the project "premature
and inappropriate" because of the decline in air travel and the
airline industry's uncertain future.

Delta Air Lines executives said Chicago failed to do its homework and
they accused the city of mounting an "impulsive grab for [tax] funds."

A good topic for a travelers quiz.
1) Name an airport in the US which is *not* under construction.

I should have put a time frame into the question. FLG slipped through just
under the wire, having completed its runway expansion less than a year ago,
and before that, the rubberized asphalt project and a few building
renovations.

OMA!

Seriously, you have a point. LAX is still in the wars. LAS has
25L/7R closed for repaving until May. SMF is blowing up the hotel and
soon will be blowing up Terminal B to expand. I believe PHX is
expanding.. all the major fields are either expanding or soon will be.

.. And all of it certainly isn't for the A380.

IND just finished their new expansion 11 days ago. There is still
some construction at the FedEx hub, but that doesn't count.
