Default Does America West strictly enforce their baggage police

http://www.americawest.com/services/...sv_baggage.htm

As shown on the above link, the weight of the checked bags should be
no more than 50lbs. But I found it is easy to exceed that limit. Is
the airline company strict about the luggage police.

I want to bring my tennis racket with. Because the above weight limit,
I will not be able to put it into the checked bags. I will have a
45"carry-on bag and backpack. The link says, "In addition to one
carry-on bag, customers may bring one personal item." I wonder whether
America West allows me to take the racket with me.

Your information is very important. Thank you very much.

Tennis racquets are NOT on the current TSA Prohibited Items list, so there
should be no problem.
I say 'should' because with current Code Orange (banana, grapefruit,
whatever), screeners can do just about anything they like. For Security
Reasons™, you understand. Says so at the top of the afore-mentioned list.
Call the airline, in the unlikely event they know.
