A friendly Reminder
I received a friendly reminder today from a trusted friend. He pointed out that I had decided not to respond to rude and obnoxious posters way back when I first joined the newsgroup. He reminded me of this and informed me that I have indeed done just that. It is such a shame that a newsgroup about such a wonderful thing as cruising could be turned into a snobatorium for illiterate and uneducated people who shout down the few friendly folks that appear to be left here. As one of my fellow "weeds" recently said, "Damned if you do and damned if you don't". A very wise lady.
Given that the group offers no real information on cruising and related issues, there is really no reason to read the group except to keep up on the latest nastiness being spewed about. Personally I crave a more satisfying intellectual stimuli so I really see no point in slumming here in the remains of what was once a very friendly and fun newsgroup. To those who have been here these many years and know the value of friendly and courteous conversation between civilized individuals, I once again say a sad farewell. As I will be doing much more cruising now, perhaps we will meet by chance and enjoy a nice meal together onboard a ship. To those of you that have turned this newsgroup into the ugly thing it currently is, I leave you with what you have created, and thus what you deserve. As you leave, you might look back and see how much of the nastiness being spewed about came from your keyboard. Dan, you were not the solution.... you were part of the problem. As for people offering no real information, you owe this group a huge apology... just for the info you got on creating a quiz for your kids. One more thing... why the drama? If you (or anyone else) is going to leave... just leave! Why the need for the grand pronouncement. Go, don't go... the decision is yours but don't complain that you are leaving because it is dirty in here when you were one of the people slinging the mud. -- George Leppla http://www.CruiseMaster.com January 20, 2008 - GGC2008 - http://cruisemaster.com/adventure.htm May 12, 2008 - 5 nt New Orleans http://www.cruisemaster.com/fantasy.htm October 26, 2008 Sleazy 5 http://www.cruisemaster.com/sleazy5.htm |

I don't know for sure, but I think Mavis Staples has passed on. She was the driving force of the group. -- ________ To email me, Edit "blog" from my email address. Brian M.
