Default A friendly Reminder

I received a friendly reminder today from a trusted friend. He pointed out that I had decided not to respond to rude and obnoxious posters way back when I first joined the newsgroup. He reminded me of this and informed me that I have indeed done just that. It is such a shame that a newsgroup about such a wonderful thing as cruising could be turned into a snobatorium for illiterate and uneducated people who shout down the few friendly folks that appear to be left here. As one of my fellow "weeds" recently said, "Damned if you do and damned if you don't". A very wise lady.

Given that the group offers no real information on cruising and related issues, there is really no reason to read the group except to keep up on the latest nastiness being spewed about. Personally I crave a more satisfying intellectual stimuli so I really see no point in slumming here in the remains of what was once a very friendly and fun newsgroup. To those who have been here these many years and know the value of friendly and courteous conversation between civilized individuals, I once again say a sad farewell. As I will be doing much more cruising now, perhaps we will meet by chance and enjoy a nice meal together onboard a ship. To those of you that have turned this newsgroup into the ugly thing it currently is, I leave you with what you have created, and thus what you deserve.

As you leave, you might look back and see how much of the nastiness being
spewed about came from your keyboard. Dan, you were not the solution....
you were part of the problem.

As for people offering no real information, you owe this group a huge
apology... just for the info you got on creating a quiz for your kids.

One more thing... why the drama? If you (or anyone else) is going to
leave... just leave! Why the need for the grand pronouncement.

Go, don't go... the decision is yours but don't complain that you are
leaving because it is dirty in here when you were one of the people slinging
the mud.

Don't do it. I don't like you one bit but suicide is not the answer.

Nope... I'm more into the Staple Singers:

If you disrespect anybody that you run in to
How in the world do you think anybody's s'posed to respect you

If you don't give a heck 'bout the man with the bible in his hand
Just get out the way, and let the gentleman do his thing

You the kind of gentleman that want everything your way
Take the sheet off your face, boy, it's a brand new day

A wise decision by them to get into the stationary retail business after
their music careers faded (plus they can sing background music in the
stores). Too bad there wasn't a rock band called Office Max....

Ha ha! I guess you never heard "I'll Take You There", or some of their
other Gospel hits. Joan Baez has performed with them on many an
occasion. I don't know for sure, but I think Mavis Staples has passed
on. She was the driving force of the group.

Lep, my homies! Memphis, Manning, Stax, Ardent was around the corner from
me Daddy's business. Sun Records, across the street. Parker got Graceland
from me Daddy's best competitor, S. C. Toof. Sicilians, Italianos. Gattas'
rooftop (oops), my oh my...

Back to Coldplay

Dan, you were not the solution.... you were part of the problem.

"Come out upon my seas,
curse missed opportunities
(am I)a part of the cure,
or am I part of the disease"

I often wonder about my very own self, Lep. Realizing, by wondering, is
better than never asking that never ending question in the first place.
