Default 2 for 1 airfare, anyone know?

We flew Aeorflot to Bangkok out of JFK, with a week or so stopover in
Moscow, (open jaw???) sort of 2 vacations for the airfare of one...We
want to try this again to Bangkok out of New York but not thru
Moscow...anyone know of other airlines that might offer a similar deal.
I have called a few without success...most seem to ask us to then book a
flight from their hub city to Bangkok, and there is no savings doing it
that way.

BTW the cost was about $900.00 2 years ago, (gas cheaper).

Singapore Airlines often have special fares for 2 people travelling
together, not exactly 2 for 1, but still good value. Probably one stop to
Singapore (London or US west coast?) then an easy change in Singapore,
frequent flights to BKK.
Why not ask a good travel agent, they should know. Calling aialines one by
one is hard work and often they have deals they sell through agents or
online but not from their own offices.

$900 is pretty cheap, but then flying on Aeroflot can be something of
an adventure :-)

Except on the most discounted fares, most airlines will let you do a
stopover in a hub city. I.E., Frankfurt for Lufthansa, London for BA,
Amsterdam for KLM, Tokyo for JAL, etc., etc. One other poster suggested
Singapore Air, which isn't a bad idea, although it's likely to be a bit
more expensive. If you do choose SQ from the US west coast, you could
also do a stopover in Taipei, Tokyo, Seoul or Hong Kong in addition to
Singapore. Going through Europe is probably going to be cheaper than
going west across the Pacific.

One other thing to consider is a "Round The World" (RTW) fare. With the
alliances (Star, One World), you can travel in one direction around the
world, stopping three or more times along the way, flying on different
carriers within the alliance. Here's one example:

the Aeroflot flight from JFK to Moscow was fine...okay the airport in
Moscow was a stampede...and the flight from Moscow to BKK that plane was
a bit primitive...and two fellows sitting next to me opened a full liter
of scotch that they brought with them and I kid you not drank the entire
bottle on the flight...I have no idea how they ever managed to exit the
plane in BKK.
