Inside - .75 days per day
Oceanview - 1 day per day
Balcony - 1.25 days per day
Jr. Suite - 1.5 days per day
Other suites - 1.75 days per day
Royal Suite - 2 days per day

What if the person in an inside spends another $2000 in the casino and on
drinks, but the person in a balcony does not?

Interesting concept though.

Tom, Bermuda has no real attraction to me, but many of my NY & NJ
friends seem to love it. To the point that many fly there once or
twice a year. If you're hot to trot to get on one of the courses, why
not just fly in for a couple of days? Otherwise, I'd also find that
particular itinerary to be rather dismal.

Dillon,

Just curious why Bermuda has no attraction for you? We are not real
beach people, but have found so much to do there that we are never
bored. It is also a very clean, safe and friendly place to visit.

OK, I am not Tom, but the problem with flying to Bermuda vs. going there
on a cruise is that the hotels and food get to be very expensive there.
On a ship you can pick and choose which meals to have on shore or on the
ship where meals are already paid for.

Does that work? *It keeps me from spending $175 for an inside three
day and getting a "cruise credit" while Diana pays $3500 for a Jr.
Suite 14 day trans Canal for the same "credit".

Are you talking about moi?! Uh, we've never booked anything higher
than a balcony.

Y'all are coming up with some very creative ideas. I hope Crown &
Anchor is following this thread. I'd guess all lines are facing
similar issues. The dramatic increase in the number of frequent
cruisers means all loyalty programs are going to need to be adjusted
to accommodate the demand. Just wait a few years until all of us
boomers who've been taking our pesky kids along pass those kids up to
the cruise lines as adults with instant high-level credit. (To
clarify, we've always bought separate cabins for the kids, so their
credits are fully paid for just like anyone else's. I don't know how
it works for kids who've sailed as 3rd and 4th cabin pax.)

G&V responds:
Simply not true . . . . .

Perhaps, but for us it has proved to be true when departing from Miami
(several times) or Vancouver.

When departing from Miami, we have found the "Priority departure" lines to
be longer than the regular check-in lines. This was due to the fact that the
staff was ~2 while the standard lines had ~20. So every we check-in we use
the regular line and they always have to go down to the priority booth to
get our cards. And yes, we were out well before we would have been in
priority.

But a funny thing happened on our last cruise to AK. Traveling with our
first time RCCL friends, we went through the priority line while our friends
went through the regular line. When we reached our booth our friends were
already at the booth next to us.

Can't say it happens in many ports, but it does happen in the ports we
frequent.

If you have others with you who are not Diamond you can bring them with
you in the Diamond line.

It depends when you get to the port. If you arrive when there are no
lines then of course it will take about the same amount of time to get
through the Diamond check in as the regular check in. It only makes a
difference at peak boarding times.

I don't think the priority check in is that much of a perk but since
they have the the cards there I go in that line so the check in person
does not have to leave that area to get my card.

The couple of times that it mattered the most was when going on the Zenith
to Bermuda from the NYC piers. I recall one time when the regular line had
at least 500-800 people in it. That was the old days when you had to pay
for Captain's Club access. Plus it was when you couldn't start boarding the
ship till 1:00. So anyone who got there early was still in line. The
Captain's Club line had nobody in it. We went there and were on board the
ship in a few minutes.

Now that they let people on the ship much earlier (even if you're room is
not ready) you don't get the long lines, so the perk isn't that important
anymore.

BUT a spouse automatically becomes what the other already is.
so yes a spouse should be able to be in there. BUt I feel it should be
by nights sailed, not 3 nights.... it should be 7 nights and the
smaller ones you need to have 3 3 nights or 2 4 nghts to get a
point.... They found out that this really did work to get clients

Were I not an Aadvange Gold member, American would only give me .5
miles for certain fares (category Y comes to mind). But they give 1.5
miles for most first class.

I have no idea how to handle cheap skates vs. big spenders. As far as
the casino is concerned, I'd consider treating them as "whales". If
you blow two grand at the casino, I might upgrade you from, say, and
oceanview all the way to a JS or maybe a balcony. It really depends
on the pricing. A friend of my sister's (FOAR? FOAS?) says that they
comp whales at about 3 to 1. So if a whale blows six grand, they'll
give him (always "him", women are too smart to lose THAT much money) a
$500 a night room for a few nights. Many of these guys are such poor
players that they'll lose more. And, realisticaly, a $500/nt room
doesn't cost much more than a $200/nt room to the hotel. He said that
after three or four years, a good hotel is "paid for". Or, at least,
that's the way it used to be.

I just went out to cruisingpower. A JS on the VotS next winter will
run about $1200/per. An I will run you $650/per. That's $1100 total
difference. Lose three grand and I'll upgrade you.

Interesting concept though.

Thank you. How's this follow on?

Well, after the kids have finished med school, you might consider it.
Ha! :-)

I'd give thirds and fourths some fractional credit. I've got a client
who's 14 year old is a Gold member. But he's never sailed in his own
cabin. He will this summer, with a friend (his parents are also
going).
