I've removed the poster's ID from that comment because practically
everyone has said the same thing.

And what it works out to is that you pretty much expect baggage-handling
(including security) employees to steal. The employers seem to expect
this, too.

Why is everyone going along with this system? At the very least, the
baggage screening should be done in the passengers' presence.

If they really thought you had a bomb in your bag, shouldn't they WANT
you there when they open it? Why would they take it behind the scenes
and smash the lock in the middle of a work area?

While I do agree with you, I can't help but wonder why this thread is so
critical of the victims rather than the perpetrators? Just because it's
there, doesn't make it right (unless you're President Clinton of course). If
found guilty, the screeners should be subjected to a more than normal
sentence.

The TSA needs to do what the casinos do. Run cameras with video tapes
and watch your employees like a hawk. They should also have set procedures
like clapping hands and showing palms to the camera to prove they did not
take anything.

And the tapes need to be archived for awhile to give people the opportunity to
determine if something was stolen. If a video recorder just keeps retaping
over something taped just a few hours prior then the passenger isn't likely to
have enough time to notice a theft, and when they do, the evidence won't be
there.
