Default NWA's LS-Carry-on Dimensions as of 8/3/2008

Dear xxx,

Thank you for contacting NWA Luggage Service Online. In your letter,
you requested information regarding the checking and/or carrying-on of
excess luggage to Manila. Allow me to provide you with the guidelines
Northwest Airlines uses for these special items.

Each international Manila ticketed passenger is allowed two pieces of
checked luggage and one carry-on free of charge. Only two pieces of
luggage may be checked free of charge and can weigh 70 pounds (32 kg).

Maximum weight for luggage on a Transpacific Travel is 100 pounds
(46kg.) and for Transatlantic travel is 70 pounds (32kg.). Luggage in
excess of these weights is not accepted as checked luggage.
Passengers
can either repack their luggage or ship them with a known shipper such
as FedEx or UPS.

There will be a change in our Manilla luggage allowance effective
August
01, 2008 for passengers ticketed on/after August 01, 2008 and for
travel
on/after August 01, 2008. Only two pieces of luggage may be checked
free of charge and can weigh 50 pounds (23 kg). Luggage that weighs
50-70 lbs will be assessed heavy bag excess fee of $50.00 USD/CAD.

Carry-on luggage will be limited to one piece plus one of the
following:
a purse, briefcase, or laptop computer for all flights. A carry-on
piece can have a total linear measurement of up to 45 inches. Because
carry-on luggage must be safely stored under a seat or in an overhead
compartment, it may at times be necessary to limit the number of
carry-on items a traveler is allowed depending on the number of
passengers on a given flight. These regulations were formulated to
prevent the boarding of excessive or oversized items, which cannot be
properly stowed.

When traveling to Manila and you have excess luggage we must advise
you
that excess luggage travels standby and you will be asked to decide
which piece(s) of your luggage you would like to be tagged as standby.
Your luggage will arrive in Manila two-three days after your arrival
and
it will be your responsibility to return to the Manila airport and
claim
your luggage.

For TransPacific travel luggage that is over the size and weight
limitations is $160.00 USD/CAD. Charges are collected at the origin
city for the portion of the itinerary where excess charges apply,
including off-line space if the flight segments are issued on the same
ticket.

The excess charge for luggage for TransAtlantic travel that is within
the size and weight limitations is $150.00 USD/CAD per piece.

Example of TransAtlantic travel would be Detroit to Amsterdam then to
Manila.
Example of TransPacific travel would be LAX to Manila..

Exceptions are;

*FROM US/CA DEC/JAN AND MAY/JUN USD185.00/CAD185.00
*FROM PHILIPPINES TO US/CA DEC/JAN AND MAR/APR USD220.00

Luggage will be accepted only from ticketed passengers for those
flights
in which the passenger is traveling. All luggage is subject to
inspection. The passenger's name is required on the outside of each
checked item and recommended on the inside of the luggage as well.
Items not suitably packed to withstand normal handling will be refused
unless passenger signs a liability release form.

Passengers should NOT pack medications, car keys, tickets, passports
and
other legal documentation, valuable items such as jewelry,
irreplaceable
items or cameras in checked luggage. For a complete listing of items
excluded from liability, please refer to the full text of the
Northwest
Airlines Contract of Carriage, which can be obtained online at
http://www.nwa.com/contract.html.

questions. We hope to have the privilege of serving your future
travel
needs. You will find answers to many frequently asked questions by
