i thought at one point they were pulling out of LGW, and was trading the
landing slots with other airlines in exchange for the LHR ones.

They were swapping prime slots in LGW in exchange for LHR ones.

Have they changed their minds again.

Thats what I thought - Maybe AA are putting pressure on them (as they are
moving to North Terminal, and I guess BA checkin ??) maybe AA want more
codeshares through LGW.

I guess if AA promise to buy 50% (or whatever) of the seats upfront - it
changes all the economics.

AA are moving some flights to MAN...... they already have a ORD flight
everyday, soon they going to start a Boston, then rumoured to takeover the
BA JFK flight in the near future.

So maybe, just maybe...... BA are moving out of MAN with all longhaul
flights there was only ever one anyway i'd love to have more BA longhaul
there.

Prob why i never flew with BA, cause i just cant be bothered flying into
LHR.

i have flown with BA dont get me wrong, i wouldnt criticise a airline if i
havent been on them.

i remember when i was a kid somewhere in the 80's going to HKG involved
MAN-LHR-BOM-HKG-BOM-LHR-MAN

22hrs one way!!!! Keep in mind in those days bags were never checked thru.
Now they are checked thru, still a major problem when bags dont turn up
cause they got lost in heathrow or missed the flight.

just think, MAN-HKG-MAN
12hrs....... that would be great.

flying into LHR for any destination can add up to an extra 3 hrs to the
total time.......... plus a poss of loosing bags too.

What they appear to have been doing is transferring those services which are
not primarily aimed at the leisure market over to LHR.

Highflier said this...
BA did have and LAX flight out of MAN for a while, didn't pay it's way
and was dropped.

The LAX flight was pulling in load factors in the 70% region, but it was
the dearth of premium traffic that killed it. There also wasn't any
obvious attempt by BA to market it aggressively, nor was there the
codeshare dimension available at the time. Equipment was a 767.

It could still be a useful route for someone to look at, maybe UA or AA.
