I looked at Emirates about six weeks ago when planning my recent trip to China -- at that time their website only showed service to Hong Kong. I'm glad that they are expanding. To answer an earlier poster: a trip from London to the Far East on Gulf Air is likely to involve passing through more than one airport in the Gulf region, and thus offer a number of stopover possibilities. I'm not sure that they have such a thing as a main hub, but I would regard Muscat as the most interesting place to visit in that part of the world. And yes, Moscow is not exactly half way (or anything like!) but there aren't exactly a lot of international airports between there and Beijing. Getting a stopover any nearer to the half-way point would involve going a long way south of the direct route and thus increase total flying time. For a traveller who doesn't mind that, the possibilities are almost endless -- India, Pakistan, Ethiopia, Iran ... |
