Default Reconfirming return Delta flight in Italy

Delta has given me the following number at which
to reconfirm our return flight from Italy to the U.S.
800-477-999

We'll not be in a hotel 24-48 hours before flight time
and will have to call from our cellphone.

Has anyone had the experience of reconfirming a Delta flight
in Italy?

Many TIA,
A.

Generally very helpful, especially if there is a long period of time between
ticket issuance and return trip. Calling the day or two before isn't so much
to reconfirm your reservation, but more to reconfirm the time of departure
(and perhaps, if the flight was cancelled, get some different return travel arrangements).

And yes, in case there was some screwups with your reservation, it is better
to know a day or two in advance than when you show up at airport. This applies
also if there was a change of aircraft type and your set pre-selection is no
longer what you'd want.

Also, calling a couple days before return trip is good to leave some telephone
number where you can be reached in case of last minute schedule changes.

I agree with all of the above, and thanks for spelling it out for
all. But my question had to do with contacting Delta in Italy:

The info above applies to Delta in Italy.. Karl referred to US airlines,
not US locations

They don't have phones in rural Italy?

I do know that my WIND charged me nothing to dial an Italian toll free
number to call Net2Phone the last time I used the phone I purchased in
Italy. This was from rural Sardinia.

Maybe this has changed too?
