Default Vancouver Island to Vancouver on Canada Day

Hi,

We intend on driving from Victoria and taking the Swartz Bay Tsawwassen
ferry crossing on the 1st of July (which I now realise is Canada Day) and
then driving to the hotel in Drake Street Vancouver. We intend to book the
ferry in advance, is there likely to be any problems with it being Canada
Day? Will it be very busy in Vancouver?, what would be the best time to
cross to avoid busy periods? Any other tips appriciated

Andrew

Make a reservation! I work for the ferries and Canada Day can be very
busy. Best time to travel is early in the morning, 7.00,8.00 or
9.00am. Later in the day it becomes busy. You can take a chance in not
making a reservation for the early sailings, but later on you should.
The cost is $15.00CDN. BC Ferries website: www.bcferries.bc.ca
Enjoy your trip!

Andrew.

Vancouver is like any other large city, and as many people who work in big
cities live in the suburbs, heavy traffic starts early, mostly going into
town, tho going out of town can be busy too.

It is quite busy all day and at mid afternoon it gets very busy again,
everybody's going home.

It is the same on weekends, tho mornings and afternoons are not as busy.

Travelling on a holiday, wear lots of patience, bring a good book, a comfy
pillow and some snacks and beverages.

In Vancouver itself, traffic will be moderate to busy, not a concern.

Not a problem if you book ahead. The cost really does add up, though.
Traffic won't be bad in Vancouver since it's not a working day.

If you don't need a car in Vancouver I'd recommend leaving the car in
Victoria and taking a bus to Vancouver. The PCL bus offers easy
downtown-to-downtown service, with your ferry ticket included in the fare.
