Default Med questions

Hi,

I am European and I am surprised to find that this clean water issue
takes such proportions in this discussion. The only country where I
would advise caution is Egypt, just take your bottles from the ship
and eat only cooked food on land (no salad or ice). Turkey is fine
(and even wonderful). You should be able to get away with English
virtually everywhere.
In all countries mentioned Euro is accepted or used (even Turkey and
Egypt), leave your US dollar at home as the exchange rate is not very
favorable nowadays.
We were on board NCL Gem in October 2008 and never had the NCL
experience before. If the price is right I'd not say NO to another NCL
cruise. Celebrity is my favorite US line however.

Regards,
F.

Thanks for the heads-up about the Euro vs US Dollar. I am in agreement
with you as regards potable water. The more you travel the less that
becomes an issue, as you begin to realize that many tourist destinations
have perfectly potable water.

What I find funny though is that in Rome ... with so many of those
fountains spilling out cool delicious mineral water ... Those not
potable are so marked ... so many locals just drink bottled water ...
Our guide was well versed on the significance of some of the
fountains ... the history ... and some of the benefits ... good
luck ... fertility ... etc. if you drank of it ... we did drink of the
good luck one ... but with five kids being enough to contribute to
social security in the future ... we skipped the fertility one ...
