Code shared flight departing at different times
Yesterday at Denver International I noticed that CO1408 from DEN to
IAH was shown on the departure display as leaving at 6:07 pm from gate A45. However, the (evidently) code-shared NWabcd and COPApqrst (I forgot the NW and COPA flight numbers) were shown as leaving at 6:08 pm and 6:09 pm respectively. The flight was operated by Continental. The same time discrepancy appeared with respect to other flights code- shared by CO, NW and COPA. My guess is that the gate scheduling system doesnt understand code- sharing and cant handle apparently differnet flights depatring at the same time from the same agte. The work-around must be for the operators to display the same flight as departing at different times. This is also weird because if the scheduling system has such a constraint built in you would think the delay times between gate uses should be at least 5 minutes or something more realistic, rather than one minute. Of course this is no big deal and I am not complaining or anything. I just thought it was curious. I havent looked at other airports and dont know if the departure displays there have the same behavior. Quark |

Maybe the plane was taking off in three pieces at one minute intervals between 6.07p and 6.09p ...lol ;-) |
