Default Hong Kong Query - 2 week vacation

My girlfriend and I will be visiting Hong Kong for 2 weeks. I've
searched this group for past posts and thought I'd post as well.

Any recommendations for:

* Custom designed jewelry.

* A good Kobe steak.

* 3/4 start hotel recommendations (done to death, but it's been a
while).

Any expats around that have comments, I'd like to hear them.

Thanks in advance.

Default Hong Kong Query - 2 week vacation

Two weeks is by far two much time for HK. A few days are sufficient to
see the highlights. It's better getting a China visa and spending the
remaining time in mainland China.

That's about right. If you're there longer, take some excursions.
Guidebooks tout the shopping in Shenzhen and pan the Chinese Folk
Cultural Village (or whatever it's called) and Splendid China. But we
thought the opposite - it's more fun to shop the street markets and
night markets in Hong Kong, and there are some wonderful shows -
spectacles, almost- at the cultural village.

Also Macao.

If you don't like mainland China, hop over to Bangkok for part of the
time. It's getting on for hot there (better in mid-winter), but more
exotic than HK and enough cheaper to pay for the cheap fare on
Emirates. Or fly to HK through Taipei - IMO underrated as a tourist
destination and well worth a day in the city and a day on the north
coast - or more time if you go inland.
