In Europe the period is used instead of the comma as the 000 separator,

As a city beggar you can live with zero euros.

In other words, it depends a lot on the standard of living you
aim for.

50,00 Euros and then you're left with nothing.

If you're talking about renting, then 50,000 will keep you alive and
happy in South Africa for between 1 year and 10 years depending on
your expected standard of living...
