Cheapest way to Scotland from Los Angeles?
Anyone know the cheapest way to go to edinbough from Ontario or LAX at
anytime between now and august or september? with a stay of anywhere between two weeks and a month or even a little longer if need be to get a really cheap rate. I'm on disability and on a limited budget. What is a bucket drop I keep hearing about? Is there such a thing as a reverse ticket where I can purchase the ticket in scotland and then reverse my round trips? My frien in scotland says the tickets are a lot cheaper there than they are here....any truth to that? email answers are welcome God Bless Patrick |

I'm on disability and on a limited budget. What's your budget? No way are you going to do it for less than $500, probably more like $800 (although September will be cheaper than August). Also, if you're paying for any accommodation or meals/outings in Scotland it will be very expensive to you in dollar terms due to the weak currency. What is a bucket drop I keep hearing about? That would be a bucket *shop* - a consolidator or other agency that sells seats at a discount. Check the travel section of the New York Times, for example, or whatever the heavyweight daily paper is in your area. See also www.expedia.com, www.travelocity.com, www.flights.com, www.qixo.com, www.orbitz.com to get you started on rough fares and itineraries. Is there such a thing as a reverse ticket where I can purchase the ticket in scotland and then reverse my round trips? My frien in scotland says the tickets are a lot cheaper there than they are here....any truth to that? That won't work for you. A ticket from LAX to EDI will cost the same whether bought in Scotland or the US. A ticket from EDI to LAX may well be cheaper, but you can't use just the return half of a ticket. Let me clarify: You buy a ticket EDI-LAX-EDI. You don't use the EDI-LAX portion. Your return flight LAX-EDI is automatically cancelled as you didn't fly the outbound sector - flights must always be used in order. If you only wanted to travel one-way, you could in theory buy a roundtrip LAX-EDI-LAX and not use the EDI-LAX part, but that's not your scenario. |

look in the Sunday LA times travel section,
lots of cheap fares. Also if price is really the issue you might fly to Manchester and take a bus or train to Scotland Northwest flys to Manchester |
