How safe is Venezuela?

You may wish to rent the DVD of the recent motion picture "Secuestro

It is a gripping fictional tale of a Venezuelan kidnapping.

Probably not much more dangerous than any other island but
there isn't much to see unless you're really into Venezuelan
history. We'd been there before so last trip stayed on
board and visited the pier shops and watched the busy port
activity which I thought was a lot more fascinating than the
tour.
