Default Option to cancel

When you book airfare and cruise together, I
assume that if you get the option to cancel by the
cruiseline, that includes refund of airfare, too?

Hi Marsha,

You may cancel the air but their may be a penalty involved. You may
discuss this with your travel agent.

Best regards,

Marsha, In most cases you can get flights a lot cheaper then what the
cruise line charges. Also by booking your own flight, you can choose
the flights that work best for you.

Marsha,

If you book the cruiseline's air, you can be sure that they will fly you at
THEIR convenience, at the lowest cost (i.e. most profit) to them. You may
not know until "too late" that they've routed you all over the place and
that you could possibly spend many unnecessary hours enroute. It's usually
very much worth the time and effort to research your own transportation.

Thanks. I usually do book my own flights.
Detroit Metro is only 45 minutes away and most
times I can get a direct flight at the time I
want. I was just curious about the refund process
if a cruise gives you the option to cancel.

I KNEW you were that smartG.

I myself just got caught up in flight schedule nightmare... flying from LAS
to FLL gave me two basic options, regardless of the carrier... spending
about 12 hours in transit flying in the day before, or 4 1/2 hours on a red
eye. I looked for a while before deciding that those were the choices I was
stuck with and the issue then became price.

I am now booked on my first overnight flight at a fare I can live with.

I know the pressure, I just hope you are good with dealing with a day
after no sleep. Red eyes are for the young.

I am NOT happy with this! But I would have been even more unhappy with the
other choice. My ears don't equalize well and landings aren't my favorite
activity. I'm considering a Benadryl before boarding with the hope of a nap
enroute, but not counting on it.

Even if I had flown in the day before I would still have the same
problems...

I almost always fly in the day before. When it's for Ft.Lauderdale, I
try for a reasonably early flight so I can enjoy some beach time. I
stay at a gay B&B where I am friends with the owner, and get a nice room
for $60.00. The decor is a little over the top with lavender, but the
comp morning breakfast spread is full with lots of home made items. In
the same area ( locals call it The Mars i.e. Vistamar, Terramar...)
there are many boutique hotels that cater to a general clientel. It
takes only a little longer to get to the port from Vistamar, Orten, or
N. Birch than it does from the Yankee Trader. The rates are less with
many of the same amenities and a more personal touch.

Since HAL doesn't start loading until 1:00 pm, I either take a leasurly
breakfast at the Hotel Bahama or get in some more beach time. If you
have an early check-in while your room is being made up, you'll be
provided with a place to change and wash. Several places the manager
lives on the property and is available for emergencies. Often after the
cruise I'll stay for an additional number of days. Yes, once you learn
how to shop and negotiate - small hotels and B&B are the way to go in
Ft. Lauderdale.
